About BABSSCo

BABSSCo (The British Association of Boarding School Short Courses) was founded in 1995. BABSSCo's Head Office is based at Harrow School and has a full-time team of eight provided by Harrow School Enterprises Ltd., the commercial arm of Harrow School.

Our Courses

Our courses, which run each year in July and August, offer students a full programme of English as a foreign language (EFL) tuition, as well as social activities, sports and excursions. English lessons are taught by experienced and EFL-qualified teachers, with Activities Helpers delivering the social programme. In 2007 BABSSCo Centres employed a total of more than 150 staff, supervising a student body numbering around 800.

Our Centres

BABSSCo currently operates at five UK boarding schools - Harrow School, Rugby School, Dulwich College, Heathfield School and Caterham School. For more information about each Centre and the courses we run there, please click on the links in the main menu above.

Our Staff

Staff working for BABSSCo come from a variety of different backgrounds. What they have in common is an enthusiasm and aptitude for working with children, a proactive attitude to their work and lots of energy! Although we demand a lot of our staff, we provide a positive and enjoyable working environment and many of our staff have been coming back to work with us for several years.

Anyone wishing to work with BABSSCo must be over 18 at the time they commence employment. There are no other specific requirements or qualifications that we demand of our Activities Helpers, but EFL teachers must have a minimum of a CELTA/Trinity TESOL.

Please note that the information on the Vacancies page and the FAQs page relates to positions at Harrow School. It is currently only possible to apply online for jobs at Harrow School. Information about jobs at our other Centres can be accessed by contacting the Centres directly - see Contact Us for further information.
