English and Media Design at Rugby School
13 - 17 year olds, girls and boys
An exciting and creative two week, multimedia experience. Take your creativity to new dimensions, with expert guidance and the latest studio technology at the same time as improving your English.
Develop your ideas and talents by experimenting with digital photography, film production and computer graphics, each student receives 21 hours of structured, creative activity in a well resourced environment by industry professionals. Learn how to obtain optimum results, create dramatic effects and powerful images. The programme and workshops are designed by the Rugby School Director of Media Design and taught by him and other School teachers within a superb and modern Design Centre. The School's beautiful surroundings and impressive architecture mean subject matter for this project-based course is in abundance.
Now in its third year this course has proven extremely popular.
Includes
- 40 hours of English including 5 hours of breaks and 21 hours of Media Design
- Two full day and two half day excursions plus evening outings
- A mix of practical and theoretical sessions
- A DVD of all media work completed during the course
- Use of the magnificent well equipped environment and facilities
Programme Outline
Digital photography:
- Introduction to the digital camera
- How to light the subject to obtain maximum results
- Importing and manipulating images in Photoshop
- Use the well equipped darkroom and the Apple Mac computer suite
Film Production:
- Work in a group
- Preparation of film material
- Shooting footage
- Editing and producing
- Broadcasting techniques
Computer graphics:
- Using latest Adobe Photoshop software
- Learn and use different techniques to manipulate and enhance images
- Creating high end graphic images
This course can be combined with a further two week English and Activities course
